English 3 (2018-19)

English for Class 3 is the English textbook for Class 3 (Grade 3) issued by the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB), Lahore. This is the board's own PDF of the full book: 164 pages, with 24 units and two assessment activities.

Units 1 to 12 are short lessons on letters, sounds and grammar: the alphabet, short and long vowels, digraphs, two- and three-letter sounds, nouns, adjectives, verbs, pronouns, plurals, prepositions, sentences and questions. Units 13 to 24 are themed units, each built around a reading text followed by grammar, punctuation and new blends: Helping Others, Respect for Elders, Self, People and Places (A Visit to Tarbela Dam, Provinces of Pakistan), How to Stay Safe, Festivals (The Horse and Cattle Show), Gender Equality, Doing Your Own Work, Nature, Crisis Awareness, Keeping the Environment Clean, Manners, and Famous Personalities and National Pride (Hazrat Ali R.A., Who is Helen Keller?, Our Flag).

The authors are Ayesha Khalid and Hajra Ikram Butt and the editor is Alia Asad Alam. The book was reviewed by Dr. Fatima Rehan Dar, Fakhra Shahid and Nicholas Shaw of the British Council's Punjab Education and English Language Initiative. No date of printing is shown inside this copy; the PDF file was produced in March 2018.
