Reading & downloading

Is ebooks.pk free?

Yes. Reading on ebooks.pk is free — no subscription, no hidden charge and no app to buy. Many books can also be downloaded; others can be read online only, as the person who shared them or the rights holder chose. The site pays for itself with clearly labelled ads and with links to shops that sell printed copies.

Do I need an account?

No. You can search, read and download without signing up. A free account adds your own library (want to read, reading, finished and favourites), ratings and reviews, reading lists, following authors and readers, book requests, a daily reading goal, and your place in every book on all your devices. You also need an account to share books.

How do I read a book on my phone?

Open the book's page and tap Read online. The book opens in your browser — nothing to install. Swipe or scroll to turn pages, pinch or use the zoom buttons for small print, and open the menu for the contents, search in the book and your bookmarks. Next time the button says Continue reading and opens the page where you stopped.

How do I download a book, and where is it saved?

When a book can be downloaded, its page has a Download button showing the file size — tap it. On Android the file goes to your Downloads folder (open it from the Files app or your browser's downloads). On iPhone, open the file and choose Save to Files. PDF books open in any PDF app, including the one built into most phones; EPUB books open in e-book apps such as Google Play Books or Apple Books.

What is “Data saver”?

Many Urdu and older books are scans of printed pages, so their files are large. Many of them also have a Data saver copy: the same pages, compressed so they download faster and use less mobile data. The pages are a little less sharp, and the full-quality file is always there too. The Data saver switch at the bottom of every page also makes the site itself lighter on a slow connection.

Why does a book take long to open?

Scanned books are often tens of megabytes. Reading online loads the book page by page, so it usually starts sooner than a full download; on a slow connection the first pages can still take a moment. For a very large book, Wi-Fi or the Data saver copy helps — the size on the download button tells you what to expect.

How do I find and read Urdu books?

Search in Urdu script or in English letters (Roman Urdu): peer e kamil, pir-e-kamil and پیر کامل all find the same book, and so do ghalib and galib. You can also browse Urdu books from the languages page. Most Urdu books are scans that look exactly like the printed book — zoom in if the text is small.

Can I read without internet?

Yes. A downloaded file opens any time without a connection. In the online reader you can also choose Save for offline reading (for books that may be downloaded); the book then opens on that device even when you are offline.

Can I install ebooks.pk like an app?

Yes. On Android, the site offers Install once you have used it a little — or open your browser's menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen. On iPhone, tap Safari's Share button and choose Add to Home Screen. ebooks.pk then opens full-screen from its own icon and takes almost no space on your phone.

How do notifications work?

Where you see Notify me — for example on a class or exam board's page in Education (date sheets and results), a web novel, an author or a category — your browser can tell you when something new arrives. It asks for your permission first, every notification has a Turn off button, and Notifications on this device lists everything you follow.

I can't find a book. Can you add it?

First try another spelling or the author's name. If it is still missing, post it on the requests board. Other readers can support your request, and you get a notification when someone shares the book.

Students

Where are textbooks, notes and past papers?

In Education: choose your board or exam body, then your class and subject. Each subject's page brings together its textbooks, notes, MCQs and solved exercises, past papers by year, guess papers and guides — and, where there is one, a link to the board's own website.

Can I share my notes or past papers?

Yes, whenever sharing is open to members: sign in and use Share notes on the Education pages to upload notes, MCQs, solved exercises or past papers for a class and subject. (When you don't see the button, sharing is paused for now.) Share only your own work or material you are allowed to share — and never personal documents such as result cards, roll-number slips or identity cards.

Sharing books

How do I upload a book?

Sign in, then tap Share a book (the + button on phones). Choose the PDF or EPUB file, check the title, author, language and category we fill in from the file, and submit. Please share complete, readable copies with accurate details. When you don't see Share a book, sharing by members is paused for now — if you are an author or publisher, write to us about your books.

Why is my upload not on the site yet?

New members' uploads are checked by our editors before they go live, to keep out broken files, duplicates, spam and books that may not be shared. This usually takes a day or two. You get a notification when your book is published — or, if it can't be, the reason why. Uploads from trusted members appear straight away.

Which books may I upload?

Only books you have the right to share — for example your own writing, books whose author or publisher released them for free distribution, or books whose rights holder lets you share them. When you share a book you choose the rights it comes under (leave Not stated if you are not sure). Books reported for copyright are taken down, and repeated takedowns cost an account its upload rights. See our terms of use and copyright policy.

How do I edit or delete a book I uploaded?

Open My uploads from your account menu. You can correct a book's details or delete it. A deleted upload can be restored for about 30 days before it is removed for good.

Problems & copyright

A book is broken, incomplete or has the wrong details. What should I do?

Tap Report on the book's page and choose what is wrong — a broken file, missing pages, the wrong book or wrong details. Our editors will fix or replace it. You don't need an account to report a problem.

I own the rights to a book on ebooks.pk. What can I do?

You decide. Send a copyright notice and choose what should happen to the book: remove it from the site (its file is then blocked from being uploaded again), stop downloads but keep reading online, or keep only its catalogue page, with a link to where it is sold. You get a case number and a page to follow the case. Or claim the book (Report → I own this book — claim it on its page): once we have verified your claim, its page is yours to manage. Our copyright policy explains both.

Your account & privacy

Who can see my activity?

Your profile, the books you share, your reviews and your public reading lists are visible to everyone. Your email address never is. You can hide your reading statistics (books finished, streaks and goals) in your settings, keep reading lists private, and block people you don't want to hear from. See our privacy policy.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings and choose Delete account. Your account is closed straight away, and for 14 days you can change your mind by signing in again. After that your personal information is deleted for good.

How can I contact ebooks.pk?

Use the form on our contact page or email [email protected]; copyright notices go to [email protected]. For a problem with a particular book, the Report button on its page is the fastest way.
