English 2 (2018-19)

English 2 is the English textbook for Class 2 (Grade 2) issued by the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB), Lahore. This is the board's own PDF of the full book: 136 pages, with 25 units.

Units 1 to 12 build reading and grammar step by step: the alphabet and letter sounds, vowels and consonants, long vowels and diphthongs, digraphs (sh, ch, th, ck, wh), three-letter sounds, plurals, action words, prepositions, possessive pronouns, the present and past tense, and capital letters and full stops. Each of the first eleven units closes with an assessment activity. Units 13 to 25 are themed lessons to look at, say, understand and write: Myself, My School, My Village, Trip to the Zoo, Trip to the Market, Seasons, Family Time, On the Way to School, Eid is Here!, The Little Red Hen, The Lion and the Mouse, Scratch! Itch!, Keep it Clean, My Country and The Honest Woodcutter, followed by Numbers 1-50 and a picture vocabulary section, Jog Your Memory.

The authors are Tehseen Zaheer and Arslan Khalid and the editor is Alia Alam. The book was reviewed by Dr. Fatima Rehan Dar, Nicholas Shaw of the British Council's Punjab Education and English Language Initiative, and Fakhra Shahid.
