Akhlaqiat 1 (Ethics) (2022-23)

Akhlaqiat 1 (Ethics) is the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board's Ethics textbook for Class 1, written in Urdu. This is the board's own web version of the full book, marked as an experimental edition: 34 pages, with three chapters and a glossary.

Chapter 1, Mazahib ka Taaruf (Introduction to Religions), names religions of the world (Christianity, Islam, Hinduism / Sanatan Dharam, Sikhism and Judaism), what all religions teach, where each community worships, the holy books, belief in the soul, and religious teaching and training. Chapter 2, Akhlaqiat aur Aqdar (Ethics and Values), covers moral values, respect for human life, rights and duties, education, health, and caring for oneself and others. Chapter 3, Khuda ke Nek Bande (God's Righteous People), tells of Jesus Christ and of Hazrat Musa (Moses). Each chapter opens with a box of teaching objectives, is illustrated with colour pictures, carries notes for teachers at the foot of the pages, and ends with a mashq (exercise): questions to answer, matching columns, multiple-choice items, true / false statements and activities. The last page has a farhang (glossary) and a short bibliography.

The compilers are Dr. Jameel-ur-Rahman, Mehar Safdar Waleed and Shams-ur-Rahman; the review committee is Dr. Kalyan Singh Kalyan (Government College University, Lahore), Dr. Ashok Kumar and Zakria Qamar (Institute of Languages and Linguistics, University of the Punjab) and Saima Victoria (Allama Paul Higher Secondary School, Youhanabad, Lahore). No date of printing is shown inside this copy, and the publisher and printer lines are left blank; the PDF file was produced in July 2022. The copy is complete: printed pages 1 to 30 between the front and back covers, and each inside page carries the board's own mark 'Web version of PCTB Textbook - Not for Sale'.
