Home Economics 8 (English Medium) (2018-19)

Home Economics 8 (English Medium Schools) is the Punjab Textbook Board's practical Home Economics book for Class 8 (Grade 8). This is the board's own PDF of the full book: 88 pages, with 19 practicals in three parts.

Part one, Cooking of Food, teaches korma, pulao, shami kabab, halwa sooji, fruit jam, vegetable pickle, dried bitter gourds and turnips, and mango chutney, each with its nutritive value. Part two covers the principles of health and hygiene and the stitching of garments: darning, buttonholes and buttons, gathers, pleats and the flat fell seam, taking body measurements, and drafting, cutting and stitching a kurta and a shalwar. Part three, Living in the Family, deals with removing stains, washing clothes, keeping the kitchen clean, budgeting and making paper flowers. Every practical lists the things required and a numbered method, followed by questions and an evaluation sheet with a marks table for the teacher.

The authors are Mrs. Safia Nazir Chughtai and Mrs. Anjum Nawaz, the editors Miss Saeeda Ghani and Zabinda Mashkur, and the English translation is by Mrs. Saghira Zia. This copy is the fifth edition, first impression, printed in April 2011 and published for the board by Master Book Depot. It is a different book from the board's newer Urdu-medium Home Economics 8, which is a theory textbook in eleven units. The file has no colour cover; the PDF was produced in May 2018.
