About this nazm

A portrait of the true believer in two parts. The first three couplets, headed "In the world", say he is soft as silk among friends and hard as steel in the struggle of right against wrong; made of clay yet free of it, he scorns small prey and hunts for Gabriel and Israfil. The last couplet, headed "In Paradise", has the angels calling him charming while the houris complain that he keeps to himself.
