Surah Al-Balad

Surah Al-Balad (سورة البلد, "The City") is the 90th surah of the Holy Quran. It has 20 ayahs and was revealed in Makkah.

It swears by the city of Makkah that man was created to face hardship, and explains the steep path he should attempt: freeing a slave, feeding an orphan relative or a poor person on a day of hunger, and urging one another to patience and mercy.
