Kaun yaan saath liye taj-o-sarir aaya hai

Yaan to jo aaya hai pahle so faqir aaya hai

Ishq laya hai faqat ek hi sine ki sipar

Husn bandhe hue sau tarkash-o-tir aaya hai

About this ghazal

Nobody arrives in this world with a crown and throne; everyone comes empty-handed. Love brings a single shield against beauty's quiverful of arrows, and in the closing couplets an old lover with a bent back and a stick turns up at the door, and the beloved knows at once that it must be Nazir. Given in full.
