About this ghazal

A ghazal on the radif "jaate hain" (they go …): the faithful who leave the beloved's lane walk away looking back for as long as their eyes can see. Constant weeping might put out the heart's fire, but one or two tears only fan it; those who share the beloved's gathering are lucky, while the poet tells his story to the walls; and Mir comes to that lane at night like a beggar come to beg. Given in full.
