خوش قداں جب سوار ہوتے ہیں

سرو و قمری شکار ہوتے ہیں

Khush-qadan jab sawar hote hain

Sarv-o-qumri shikar hote hain

About this ghazal

When the graceful ride out, even the cypress and the dove fall prey. Mir plays on the beloved's curling hair that makes every verse "twisted", on promises to meet that leave the lover restless, and on streets that feel like whole kingdoms, ending with the honour he never finds. Two couplets of the ghazal are not included here.
