About this ghazal

The beautiful are everyone's life and the whole world's desire, though their words can be bitter. The poet tells his lament to go at least as far as the corner of the wall, since even the rose has ears there; without the beloved he is a guest in his own house. The ghazal ends on a note about the poetry gatherings of Mir's Delhi: little is left of the mushaira now, and only Mir, Mirza Rafi (Sauda) and Khwaja Mir (Dard) are still the young men of it. 1 couplet of the original is not included here.
