About this ghazal

The heart's restless haste now crumbles from weakness; its tossing has wrecked the house. In all the schools the poet never saw anyone like the beloved, whose face is like an open book. Hearts roast on one side and livers sizzle on the other, so that the gathering of longing lovers looks like a kebab-seller's shop. A breath of the bud's scent makes the nightingale drunk a hundred times over; the heart, all blisters, has the look of a glass of bubbles. Mir ends by saying that no lifeless word ever left his mouth: whatever he said was measured. Given in full.
