About this ghazal

A short ghazal on how quickly a garden turns to wilderness. Yesterday the poet saw roses and jasmine; today the same garden is a waste. The lover, exiled from the garden, finds the cage no worse. The wound of the beloved's arrow, the flashing lashes and the "home after home" burning in the heart all lead to the closing image: when Mir's shroud was opened, longing was found sleeping in his place. 1 couplet of the original is not included here.
