jeeta hun to tujhi mein ye dil laga rahega

yaan hijr aur hum mein bigdi hai kab ki sohbat

zakhm-e-dil-o-namak mein kab tak maza rahega

umr-e-aziz saari dil hi ke gham mein guzri

beemar-e-aashiqi ye kis din bhala rahega

About this ghazal

How long will the beloved stay apart to test the lover? As long as Mir lives his heart stays fixed on her. The ghazal warns that the heart's scar will one day flare up and burn the house, and ends with a consolation: even if Mir has left, he is bound by faithfulness, and while he is still in life's prison he will come back.
