About this ghazal

Every couplet ends on "sahib", a polite and slightly ironic address to the beloved. "Whatever you say is right, sir; fine, we are the bad ones." Mir teases that she has grown from a fault-finder into a reader of letters, blames his torn letter on his own fate, and closes by asking who ever heard his verse without saying "say that again".
