idhar se abr uth kar jo gaya hai

hamari khaak par bhi ro gaya hai

kuchh aao zulf ke kooche mein darpesh

mizaj apna udhar ab to gaya hai

About this ghazal

A five-couplet ghazal famous for its maqta, where Mir asks everyone to keep quiet by his pillow because he has only just cried himself to sleep. Along the way a passing cloud weeps over his dust, losing the heart is called a strange accident among many troubles, and the world is a gambling house where everyone who comes loses something.
