رنج کھینچے تھے داغ کھائے تھے

دل نے صدمے بڑے اٹھائے تھے

ranj khenche the daagh khaaye the

dil ne sadme bade uthaaye the

About this ghazal

A ghazal of remembered suffering told in the past tense. The lover held back his tears only for love's honour, showed every wound and was still not understood, and now stands in harsh sunlight where once there were cypress and rose shade. The maqta lightly notes that Mir came by yesterday and left everyone in tears.
