About this ghazal

The lover does not complain of his own wasting away; the wound is the beloved's sharp tongue. Built on rhymes in "-azi" (gudazi, darazi, tazi, bazi), the ghazal moves from the beloved's proud steed trampling the world to Mir's quiet pride in his own art of words, and ends with advice to be trodden like dust on people's road if one truly wants to rise. Two couplets are not included here.
