About this ghazal

Don't try to rebuild the heart's settlement just yet, Mir advises: a ruin like this needs a long time to be lived in again. Farhad died but finished his work in the end, for whatever a person's trade, it takes courage; and the poet, a wrestler among poets, says anyone who means to stand up to a master of the craft needs real strength. In love, union and separation hardly matter, near and far are the same, only love is needed; delicacy has no place here, only the strength to bear hardship. The closing couplet gently tells "Mir sahib" not to lose heart so early in love: all is well as long as the heart is safe. 1 couplet of the original is not included here.
