About this ghazal

The ghazal begins with Mir describing his own arrival yesterday, in which people saw all of Majnun's manner. His dust rose like a cloud of grief; autumn scattered the petals without a thought for the nightingale; the beloved's eyes, bold before everyone else, turned shy only before him. No one walked with him and his body went to the grave alone. The dear life is not one to stay: if not today, it goes tomorrow. In the last couplet a gathering of faithful people finds Mir, beside himself, in their midst. Given in full.
