har lahza hai momin ki nai shan, nai aan

guftar mein, kirdar mein, Allah ki burhan!

jis se jigar-e-lala mein thandak ho, vo shabnam

dariyaon ke dil jis se dahal jaen, vo tufan

fitrat ka surud-e-azali us ke shab-o-roz

About this nazm

A portrait of the true believer as Iqbal imagined him: always renewed, proof of God in word and deed, gentle as dew to the tulip and fierce as a storm to rivers, belonging to no single city. It ends by telling the reader to recognise the star of their own destiny among the stars born in the poet's thought.
