About this ghazal

A whole ghazal on the torn collar, the classic sign of the lover's madness, with every couplet ending on "gareban". Wrung out by weeping, its threads are streaks of cloud; spotted with tears of blood, its spring has turned to autumn. Mir thanks madness for lifting even the weight of a collar from him, and ends wishing to wander bare of hem and collar alike. One couplet is not included here.
