About this ghazal

A ghazal on the refrain of "-aao hai": lagaao, baao, bahaao, ghaao. The heart is drawn to the beloved by its sighs, and the wind of them is strong, so come and see. Mir asks why that hand never tires of the sword of cruelty, says his eyes weep blood night and day until he cannot tell whether his face holds an eye or a wound, and observes that everyone's fortunes have gone to ruin, with hardly one or two in a hundred thousand still doing well. The closing couplet tells the beloved that only after falling in love themselves will they learn what Mir was worth. Given in full.
