About this ghazal

A ghazal of looking back, on the refrain "bahut" (so much): youth was full of wrong turns, yet it is missed all the same. Hali moves from the beloved's charm and stubbornness to the quiet that the world's events have forced on him, and ends with the warning he gave himself that plain speaking brings plenty of disgrace. 2 couplets of the original are not included here.
