About this ghazal

A playful ghazal on the rhyme "-ai ki": the speaker was famous for keeping himself apart, and then of all people fell for this one. The couplets move between closeness and quarrel, the beloved's love of showing off and the dread of the parting that finally comes, and close with Hali mocking his own wish to go on living. 3 couplets of the original are not included here.
