شیخِ مکتب ہے اک عمارت گر

جس کی صنعت ہے رُوحِ انسانی

Shaikh-e-maktab hai ik imarat-gar

Jis ki san'at hai ruh-e-insani

About this nazm

Addressed to the schoolmaster, a builder whose craft is the human soul. For him the poet passes on a fine point from the Persian poet Qaani, quoted in the last couplet: if you want the courtyard of your house to be full of light, do not raise a wall in front of the sun.
