Huzoor-e-Haq se chala le ke lu'lu-e-lala

Wo abr jis se rag-e-gul hai misl-e-taar-e-nafas

Bahisht raah mein dekha to ho gaya betab

Ajab maqam hai, ji chahta hai jaoon baras

Sada bahisht se aai ke muntazir hai tera

Herat-o-Kabul-o-Ghazni ka sabza-e-nau-ras

Sirishk-e-dida-e-Nadir ba dagh-e-lala fishan

Chunan ke aatish-e-oo ra digar furo na-nishan!

About this nazm

A cloud leaves the presence of God carrying bright pearls of rain. Passing paradise on its way, it longs to pour down there, but a voice from paradise tells it that the young green of Herat, Kabul and Ghazni is waiting for it. The closing Persian couplet asks it to shed Nadir's tears on the scar of the tulip, so that its fire never goes out. The poem honours Nadir Shah, king of Afghanistan.
