Is daur mein aqwam ki suhbat bhi hui aam

Poshida nigahon se rahi wahdat-e-Adam

Tafriq-e-milal hikmat-e-afrang ka maqsud

Islam ka maqsud faqat millat-e-Adam

Makke ne diya khak-e-Geneva ko yeh paigham

Jamiyyat-e-aqwam ke jamiyyat-e-Adam!

About this nazm

Written in the years of the League of Nations at Geneva. Nations meet more than ever, the poet says, yet the unity of mankind stays hidden from view. He sets dividing people into nations against the aim of one human family, and ends with Makka's message to Geneva: a league of nations, or a league of mankind?
