اگر مُلک ہاتھوں سے جاتا ہے، جائے

تُو احکامِ حق سے نہ کر بےوفائی

Agar mulk hathon se jata hai, jaye

Tu ahkam-e-haq se na kar be-wafai

About this nazm

A short poem on begging for power. If a kingdom slips away, let it go, the poet says, but do not be unfaithful to what is right; a rule not bought with one's own blood is a shame. It closes with a Persian couplet: being broken is less shameful to me than asking others for a healing balm.
