Jis banda-e-haq-bin ki khudi ho gayi bedar

Shamshir ki manind hai burranda o barraq

Us ki nigah-e-shokh pe hoti hai numudar

Har zarre mein poshida hai jo quwwat-e-ishraq

Us mard-e-khuda se koi nisbat nahin tujh ko

Tu banda-e-afaq hai, woh sahib-e-afaq

Tujh mein abhi paida nahin sahil ki talab bhi

Woh paki-e-fitrat se hua mahram-e-a'maq

About this nazm

A poem on the awakened self. A seeker of truth whose self has woken is sharp and bright as a sword; his bold gaze reveals the light hidden in every particle. The reader, the poet says, is nothing like him: you are a servant of the horizons, he is their master; you do not yet even long for the shore, while his pure nature has made him at home in the depths.
