Sahih Muslim
صحيح مسلم
Also spelled: Sahih Muslim Sharif, Muslim Shareef, Saheeh Muslim, Sahi Muslim, Al-Jami as-Sahih, Sahih Muslim English
by Imam Muslim
Sahih Muslim is one of the six major collections of hadith (the Sihah Sitta) and, together with Sahih al-Bukhari, one of the two collections known as the Sahihayn. It was compiled in the third century Hijri by Imam Abul-Husain Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj of Nishapur (d. 261 AH / 875 CE).
Imam Muslim admitted only narrations that met strict conditions of authenticity. He gathered the different chains and wordings of each hadith in one place instead of spreading them across chapters, which makes his book easy to consult and to compare. The collection opens with an introduction on the principles of narration and then runs from the Book of Faith through worship, family law, trade, government, manners and the Hereafter to the Book of Tafsir.
