About this ghazal

Three couplets of total solitude, among Ghalib's most quoted. The poet longs for a house without doors or walls, with no neighbour and no guard, where no one nurses him when he falls ill and no one mourns when he dies. The old word "bimar-dar" (nurse) is kept here as this edition prints it.
