About this ghazal

A ghazal on the refrain "gayi" (went, was gone), sung by Begum Akhtar and K. L. Saigal. The beloved's glance pierces heart and liver alike and leaves both content; the night's intoxication is gone, the sweetness of dawn sleep is gone. The maqta addresses the poet by his own name, Asadullah Khan: time has beaten you, where are that fire and that youth now?
