Tareekh-e-Islam (تاریخ اسلام) is a three-volume history of Islam in Urdu by Maulana Akbar Shah Khan Najeebabadi. It is one of the most widely read general histories of the Muslim world in the language, written as a connected narrative for ordinary readers and not only for scholars.
Volume 1 opens with an introduction on what history is, why it is studied and how its sources are weighed. It then describes Arabia and its people before Islam, tells the life of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and covers the period of the Rightly Guided Caliphs.
