Tareekh-e-Islam is a three-volume history of Islam in Urdu by Maulana Akbar Shah Khan Najeebabadi. It is one of the most widely read general histories of the Muslim world in the language and has stayed in print through many editions.
The work begins with Arabia before Islam and the life of the Prophet, covers the Rightly Guided Caliphs, the Umayyad and Abbasid caliphates and Muslim Spain, and follows the later Muslim dynasties. It is written as a connected narrative for general readers, with the author's own comments on the causes of events.
