Al-Mamun (المامون) is Allama Shibli Nomani's biography of al-Ma'mun (reigned 813–833), the Abbasid caliph of Baghdad whose reign is remembered for its patronage of learning and the translation of Greek and other works into Arabic. It is one of Shibli's earliest historical works and part of the series of biographies of figures from Islamic history that made his name.
