About this book

The second season of Sulphite: a philosophical Urdu mystery about the idols people make of themselves and others.

Maseel (ماثیل), subtitled Qissa Butt Sazon Ka ("the tale of the idol-makers"), is the second season of Noor Rajpoot's Sulphite. It is a philosophical and spiritual mystery about the idols people carve, out of stone and out of each other.

Maseel is a sculptor and model with strange habits, and Aima is a young woman searching for who she really is. Their paths run side by side through card readings, archaeology and lectures that reach back to ancient tablets and the people of Aad, with the enigmatic Professor J watching from the edges.

At more than 1,400 pages, Maseel is a long, dense read full of complex characters. The season ends with the story left open for what comes next.
