Altaf Hussain Hali

Altaf Hussain Hali (1837–1914) was an Urdu poet, critic and biographer from Panipat. He wrote ghazals in the classical style and later turned to simpler, purposeful poetry and nazms.

He is known for the long poem Musaddas-e-Hali and for his prose biographies Yadgar-e-Ghalib, Hayat-e-Saadi and Hayat-e-Javed. He was part of the circle around the Aligarh Movement and died in Panipat on 31 December 1914.
